Jouko Korkeasaari
In my own artistic work, I challenge the irrational consumption habits related to textiles and experiment with new ways to extend the life cycle of recycled clothing. This idea led to the creation of Muotikummitus—a project where I design and craft unique wearable art pieces from surplus materials and second-hand finds, using various art and craft techniques. I oversee the entire process, from concept to execution, and finally document the results through photography. These photographic documentations become independent works of art, exploring overlapping themes such as alternative subcultures, art history, fashion, and gender. |
